| High-Mercury (Hg) |
Known to be one of the most toxic minerals and a cumulative poison, Mercury
is found in shark, tuna, bonito, whale (esp. liver and kidneys)and swordfish
which are considered high in Hg (Mercury). Also farmed raised fish are
high in Hg.@A mutual antagonism exists between Hg and Se (selenium). Hg
often affects the liver & kidneys with inorganic Hg. The symptoms are
multi faceted. According to the World Health Organization, amalgam dental
fillings are a primary source of mercury exposure. |

| In 1907 the Chisso Corporation built a factory in the small fishing village
of Minamata, Japan along the shore of Minamata Bay. Fish populations began
to decline in 1925, by 1950 fish began to float to the surface, shellfish
and other aquatic organisms began to perish. Cats were the first land animals
to show signs of distress. In 1952 they began having convulsions, whirling
in violent circles, slobbering, becoming disoriented and throwing themselves
into the sea. By 1953 dogs, pigs, birds and other animals started exhibiting
the same strange behavior. There are virtually no cats to be found in Minamata,
Japan as of 1958. |
| Mercury has been determined by health officials to be one of the most toxic
and poisonous minerals known. On March 15, 2005, EPA issued the Clean Air
Mercury Rule to permanently cap and reduce mercury emissions. According
to the World Health Organization, amalgam dental fillings are a primary
source of mercury exposure. According to the Centers for Disease Control
exposure to hazardous Hg (mercury) levels can cause permanent neurological
and kidney impairment. |
In July 1999, U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS) agencies,
including the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID);
The American Academy of Pediatrics; and vaccine manufacturers agreed that
thimerosal should be reduced or eliminated in vaccines as a precautionary
measure and to reduce exposure to mercury from all sources.
(Hg): Elemental mercury is easily converted to organic mercury by living
systems.
Symptoms of poisoning include inactivation of enzyme function, birth defects, brain damage and other central nervous system disorders. Early symptoms of mercury overexposure include insomnia, dizziness, fatigue, yeast infections, ADD, behavioral disorders, drowsiness, weakness, depression, tremors loss of appetite, loss of memory, nervousness, headache, dermatitis, numbness, and tingling of lips and feet, emotional instability and kidney damage. Symptoms of acute toxicity: loss of teeth, extreme tremor, mental and emotional disorders, kidney failure. Mercury remains in the blood stream for approximately 24 hours and high levels confirm toxicity. |

gLiver G.I. Detoxh (see enclosed), gClear Detoxh, gAntioxidant Formulah,
DMSA, MSM, EFAs, Alpha Lipoic Acid. |
Mercury does not show up well in blood or urine samples. This is one reason
why hair analysis is used in Forensic medicine. Mineral levels in hair
are approximately ten times that of blood resulting in easier detection.

Alfalfa and cilantro contain valuable nutrients and helps the body to eliminate
toxins such as heavy metals.
Products containing N-acetyl cysteine, Extra Glutathione, Methione, Selenium
(not exceeding 2500 - 5000mcg of Se) vitamin E, Methylsulfonyl methane
(MSM) and herbs to support hepatic (liver) function by increasing bile
flow and preserving glutathione concentration - g ClearDetoxh.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid or acorbyl palmitate ? fat soluble)
Alpha Lipoic acid.
Broil fish to remove the fat where most of the Mercury is stored while
maintaining the beneficial alkylglycerols. Eat fish in moderation unless
you are certain it is free of heavy metals like mercury. Chlorella supplementation
before and after fish consumption may be helpful. Supplement with EFAs.
Consider the Df Adamo blood type diet commensurate with your individual
blood type.
Extra fiber (oat bran and pectin from apples) aids in removing toxic metals
from the body. Always take supplemental fiber apart from other supplements
and medications.
Eat garlic, onions and foods high in sulfur.
Consider chelation therapy
A water and shower filter may be indicated depending on your water source.
Check the EPAfs own list of mercury containing medications with your present
and past regimes.
Drink plenty of filtered water away from eating.
Check / test local community well water for contaminants.
Check for low selenium levels. Selenium and mercury are regarded as antagonists.
Selenium is also regarded as a co-factor with vitamin E.
Vitamin C, consume dosage to bowel tolerance (taken 2 hours away from selenium
as selenium has been reported to precipitate vitamin C). It works synergistically
for greater calcium absorption and is recommended for the elevated mercury
levels)
Reduce or eliminate excess dietary phosphorous intake (i.e. sodas or carbonated
beverages).
We absorb more chlorine from a 10 minute shower than we do from drinking an 8 oz glass of water. Pool water is often highly chlorinated. Chlorine has been determined to interfere with calcium absorption which may contribute to calcium deficiencies indicated by a possible deficiency trend.
If you are taking calcium and magnesium supplements (i.e. to calm the nervous
system and muscle spasms) consider using a bio-available / chelated source
and avoiding metallic forms (i.e. carbonate).
Include plenty of Vit D (via sun exposure and or supplements for the pituitary
gland which also produces the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) which helps
regulate thyroid hormone production and is located behind the eyes).

| SOURCES: |
Over exposure may stem from paints, explosives, electrical apparatus, batteries,
mercurial diuretics, fungicides, fluorescent lamps, cosmetics, hair dyes,
amalgams in dentistry, contaminated seafood, and petroleum products. |
| THERAPEUTIC RECOMMENDATION: |
In mild cases, increase oral intake of cysteine and antioxidants, esp.
selenium and vitamin E. For the treatment of severe mercury poisoning hemodialysis
and administration of mercury-chelating agents (cysteine, N-acetyl-penicilliamine)
has been recommended. Chelating agents such as DMSA and EDTA are also known
to increase urinary excretion. |

Our two new Dental / Mercury books list some of the symptoms and research
associated with mercury poisoning. Fungicides / pesticides are full of
Hg and DENTAL FILLINGS contain Nickel and over 50% mercury. Hg is found
in breads / grains, and vaccinations (thimerisol) to kill bacteria.
Symptoms associated with Hg poisoning include: Neurological disorders,
mental deterioration caused by a toxic neuro-encephalopathy in which the
neuronal cells of the cerebral and cerebella cortex are selectively affected,
Alzheimerfs disease, Minimatafs disease, depression, failure of memory
and concentration, hair loss, asthma, autism, reduced resistance to infections,
lowered immune system, Candida hand tremors, and irritability.
Recent studies show that the progression of Alzheimerfs disease can be
lowered and even reduced through the use of antioxidants. Vitamin E (an
antioxidant) works synergistically with selenium for greater absorption.
Selenium (also regarded as an antioxidant) has an antagonistic relationship
with mercury and helps prevent absorption of mercury.
According to a study published in the April 24, 1997, issue of The New
England Journal of Medicine, vitamin E can slow the advancement of Alzheimerfs
disease by 25%.
According to Dr. Joel Wallach, veterinarians have treated and cured Alzheimerfs
in pigs and hens for over 60 years by lowering their intakes of vegetable
oils and increasing their supplements of vitamin E. Pigs exhibited Alzheimerfs
symptoms by walking in circles and not eating (theoretically because they
could no longer find the feed). Hens exhibited signs of Alzheimerfs disease
through gstar gazingh. If the hens did not mate the farmers would lose
money compelling them to find a cure.
Furthermore, Wallach states ga July 1992 study released by UCSD stated that vitamin E would relieve memory loss in Alzheimerfs patientsh and that gthis result is not too surprising in light of the history of gstar ? gazing in poultry, where encephalomalacia or brain wasting (Alzheimerfs Disease) was prevented and in the early stages cured by high doses of vitamin E and selenium.h Other studies have implicated Mercury (HG) as having played a role in Alzheimerfs disease as well.
Studies reported in the Medical Journal of Australia have indicated that drinks from aluminum cans contained more aluminum than water from local water supplies thus adding another source of metallic aluminum to peoplefs diets.
